It’s no secret that starting a business can be expensive. Thankfully, entrepreneurs have access to crowdfunding platforms that allow them to raise money for their projects with minimal effort. But it’s important to know what successful companies have done in order to make the most of these platforms. Let’s take a look at some of the most successful crowdfunding campaigns and explore what made them so successful.

Exploding Kittens.

You may not have heard of Exploding Kittens, but you’ve probably seen its wildly popular card game. In 2015, the company behind the game launched a Kickstarter campaign with the goal of raising $10,000. The result? They raised over $8 million — making it one of the most successful crowdfunded projects ever. What made it so successful? For starters, they had an incredibly unique product and an eye-catching design that caught people’s attention. They also created a buzz around their project by releasing short videos and hosting live events. All in all, they did a great job engaging with potential backers and creating excitement around their product.

Oculus Rift.

Another example of a successful crowdfunding campaign is Oculus Rift, the virtual reality headset that took the gaming world by storm in 2012. Their Kickstarter campaign raised over $2 million — more than double their original goal. Again, they were able to draw attention to their project by creating high-quality videos showcasing their product in action and building relationships with potential backers through social media campaigns and online forums. Additionally, they had a strong team behind them which demonstrated just how serious they were about making this project happen.

Readdle Scanner Pro.

Readdle Scanner Pro is an app designed to turn your phone into a portable scanner for documents and images on the go. When they launched their Indiegogo campaign in 2014, their goal was to raise $15,000 within 30 days; instead, they ended up raising over $51k. So what allowed them to exceed expectations? First of all, they used video content effectively across multiple channels (YouTube and websites) to showcase how easy it is use their product and explain why it was better than existing solutions on the market. Secondly, they kept backers updated on progress throughout the entire process which helped foster trust between themselves and potential investors. Lastly, they offered attractive rewards such as discounts off their products or free merchandise which encouraged more people to contribute towards reaching their goal quicker than expected.

Crowdfunding has become increasingly popular amongst entrepreneurs due to its low cost and high potential for success when done right. As we’ve seen from some of these examples above, having an eye-catching design combined with engaging video content can make all the difference when running a crowdfunding campaign — it helps create buzz around your product/service which encourages people to contribute towards your project goals faster than expected. Furthermore, staying active on social media channels or online forums as well as providing attractive rewards are both additional ways you can help ensure your crowdfunding campaign is successful. With enough research into what other businesses have done before you launch yours — you too can achieve similar results!
