Five For Friday 7/8/22
Here is what caught my attention this week.
What I’m Watching:
If you’re like me, you might find yourself wondering if Apple TV+ is worth the $4.99 monthly subscription fee. After all, the streaming service’s offerings seem to be a mixed bag at best, with some original series (like “The Morning Show”) feeling like little more than rehashes of other shows. However, Apple TV+’s new series “Severance,” which recently completed, faces no such problem and serves as a convincing argument for the merits of entirely original content. This gripping science fiction thriller is one of television’s most ingenious, visually stunning, and well-rounded new series. The show is moody and atmospheric, with each episode building upon the last to create a sense of unease and suspense.
New Tool I’m Using:
appbind.com
We’re all aware of the rise of subscription services. On the one hand, they’re incredibly convenient. But on the other hand, they can be a pain to keep track of — especially if you have multiple clients with multiple subscriptions. That’s where AppBind comes in. AppBind is a new app that lets you sign up for subscriptions on behalf of your clients. That way, you don’t have to worry about getting stuck in the middle of the billing process. And best of all, AppBind keeps track of all your clients’ subscriptions in one place so you can easily see which ones are due for renewal. If you’re tired of dealing with the hassle of subscription management, be sure to check out AppBind. It just might be the app you’ve been waiting for.
Campaign That Caught My Eye:
For many people, collecting sports cards is a fun hobby that brings back fond memories of their childhood. However, you may not realize that sports cards can also be a wise investment. Just like any other asset, sports cards can appreciate over time, and if you know what you’re doing, you can turn a tidy profit. Of course, there’s always a bit of risk involved in any investment, but if you’re smart about it, investing in sports cards can be a fun and profitable endeavor. This particular campaign lets you invest in and have fractional ownership of Michael Jordan’s 1986 Fleer Rookie Card. I’m very intrigued to see where this goes.
New Song I’m Enjoying:
Bluegrass songs are typically known for their simple, down-home melodies and lyrics. But on their latest album, U.F.O.F., indie rockers Big Thief have taken the genre in a new direction with the song “Blue Lightning.” The song is quirky and charming despite the lighthearted feel; the lyrics touch on some big themes, including loss and the interconnectedness of all life. It’s just one of many examples on the album of how Big Thief pushes the boundaries of what bluegrass can be. With its richly layered sound and complex lyrics, U.F.O.F. is another stunning musical and lyrical achievement from this talented band.
